e-Commerce Internet Success | Web Scripting for Profit

One of the important things needed for making money on the internet is to put together your own mailing list.  I have a small one, but to get additions to that I needed an e-mail sign-up form on my web pages and blogs.

While I had learned enough PHP scripting to get this site up, and to develop a few products such as my Munius Article Directory and Relusi Resource Directory data file packing scripts, I wasn't all that comfortable with javascript and using PHP and javascript together.  So I had avoided putting up e-mail sign-up forms for quite awhile.

Now, after viewing the videos from Fred Black's Web Scripting Home Study Course, and reviewing the scripts he provides with the course, I was able to learn what I needed to both use one of his script files and then tweak it a bit for my purposes.

So, after months of avoidance, I now finally have e-mail sign-up forms on this website and blog and others of mine.  I would estimate that Fred's course saved me at least a week or so of learning and stumbling around to put together something similar.  He also provides some form data entry validation functions I used that, had I tried to develop them on my own, might have taken me another week or so to figure out what I neeeded and then to write them.

I now have two basic e-mail sign-up form variations in use.

You will find one variation on this page, near the top of the right-hand column.  Go ahead, fill it out with your name and e-mail address and click "Sign Me Up!".  After the script processes, you will remain on this page, and the prompt will change, indicating successful sending of your data.  The script will also send you a "thank-you" e-mail.  Go ahead, try it, and see what it does.

The next variation I made was for my related blog e-Commerce Biz Buzz (Internet Business) Blog.  Because that is a Google Blogger blog, I can't use PHP on it.  Javascript yes; PHP no.  So, I just put a link at near the top of the right-hand column which sends you to a form script page on this website.  That page has both the PHP and javascript necessary for you and other visitors to sign up.  Since this version has a whole page to play with, I added some more lines of text, some of which also change after you submit the form, but the script workings are essentially the same as what you see on this page.  Try that one also, why don't you?  Go to the blog at e-Commerce Biz Buzz and look for the "Updates" link.

So, Fred's course helped me get over procrastinating about doing something on my website that is regarded by most as at least a plus, if not vitally necessary.  It could do the same for you.
