Munius Article Directory Spam Comments Disabling

I have the James Brausch Munius article directory PHP scripts installed on several of my sites.

Frankly, I don't know if they do me much good or not, but I am keeping them for the time being.

My questioning the value of the Munius article submission program derives from the fact that I have not gotten many good article submissions to my Munius article directories.  Probably 95% are porno spam.  To keep the article data directory under control, I offer the Munius Article Directory Data File Packing PHP Script program to accompany Munius whereby I, and you, can permanently delete all those spam articles after you reject them during article moderation.

Munius has turned out to be a worthless POS, so I am no longer offering the packing script for sale.  I no longer recommend using Munius.  It turns out that Munius causes too much trouble and causes too many problems for negligible, if not negative, results.  I am removing the Munius article directories from my sites.  [2009-03-02]

Then there are all the spam comments.  That same script to delete spam articles and comments permanently from Munius Article Directories will permanently delete all those, also.

But, in thinking about those Munius comments, I made a few observations:
1)  99% of the comments are spam.
2)  An e-mail box has to be monitored.
3)  Some extra clicks of my Munius Article Directory Data File Clean-up PHP Script are needed to get rid of them permanently -- to get rid of the clutter -- from from the Munius article data directory.
So, I concluded, why have comments at all in the Munius article directories?

Accordingly, I have modified the Munius scripts to completely remove the ability to add comments, and thus to eliminate the need to moderate them.

Three scripts require simple modifications:
misc.php
index.php
a.php

Munius misc.php Modifications

Here are the first few lines of the script, with my modifications for this and previous changes I have made.

    $adminPassword=" **your password ** ";
    $installDomain=$_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"];
    $installDir=" ** your install directory - usually 'art' ** ";
    $defaultCategory=" ** your default category - usually 'General' ** ";

    // Deleted e-mail box for article and comments moderation
    $moderatorEmail="";

    // Premoderate was 'no' - but a lot of spam articles submitted
    $premoderateArticles="yes";
    $moderateArticlesByEmail="no";
    // Still have to disable other parts of scripts to prevent comment
    // submissions becoming 'orphans' and cluttering data files.
    $moderateCommentsByEmail="no";

    $tocShowAuthor="yes";
    $tocShowURL="no";

    // 'yes' shows whole article on category page,
    // 'no' just shows title and info
    $tocShowArticle="no";

Munius index.php Modifications

Fix APPROXIMATELY line 158 as shown:

Munius a.php Modifications

Fix APROXIMATELY line 30 as shown:
